My Rating :
Following on from my Housebound review I felt I had to add another brilliant movie from down-under and what better movie to choose other than What We Do In The Shadows!
This is a mockumentary about a group of vampires who all share the same home and we get to see what their lives entail via a camera-crew who have been given permission to film their every move
The flat-mates include Viago, Deacon, and Vladislav with Viage being the main go-to-man throughout the film.
The movie starts with chuckles galore and to be honest the laughs never end. We see Viago entertaining a guest / victim - as he needs to feed - and when he goes to bite the victim he hits the artery with blood gushing everywhere other than his mouth. Whilst it may not sound funny, trust me, it really is! The chaotic scenes showing blood everywhere shouldn`t be belly-aching funny but for some reason it just is.
There is also another scene when all three are going out for the night but because they cannot see their reflections in the mirror they have to rely on child-like sketches by each other just to see what they look like in their clothes. Again, a very funny moment in the movie.
The laughs just keep on coming and there isn`t a slow part or bore part in this movie which in todays world is something of a rarity.
I think the reason why What We Do in the Shadows works so well is because the vampires are just living a normal lifestyle (to them anyway) but it shows us the problems that comes with being a vampire.
Such as not being able to enter a nightclub unless they are invited in and this is a scene in the movie that again gives many a laugh as they are faced with a tough-nut of a doorman who just will not invite them into a club.
I can go on and on about how funny this movie is but I`ve given enough spoilers now so please, if you havent already done so, go out and get this movie! You will not regret it.
I`d give it 4 escapes out of 5.
