Quick thoughts (not a review!)
Im not sure why the hype for this movie if Im being honest. Apparently its a remake of sorts of the original movie that came out in 1977 and was written by David Cronenberg. Now I cant compare the two as I haven’t seen the original but what I can say is that the 2019 ‘version’ for me was kinda dull in places and took some time to get going.
That isn’t my main issue though – the reason why I didnt rate the movie was simply because I felt it didnt really know what it wanted to be – was it a virus move in the same mold of, lets say – 28 Weeks Later? Was it a vampire kind of movie? Was it a take on the whole fashion industry and the lengths people go to if they want to be popular and succeed in that business? Was is a sci-fi?
Mayve it was ALL of the above mentioned but for me it didnt work. It felt like it was trying to be cleverer than what it actually was.
OK the gore effects were brilliantly done but that isn’t enough for me. I want to be entertained and unfortunately I felt a little flat after watching this.
Would I recommened? Possibly no.
